Hi Richard.

Yes, the Nikon D90 DOES come with a full manual. Perhaps your camera was packed on a Friday and they forgot to put it in! ;-) Go back to Currys and ask them for one.

Not sure why you can't print the manual from the link above. It is a .pdf file and you do need to have the latest version of Adobe Reader (free program) on your computer, but it should print out fine (although there are a LOT of pages!)

Hope this helps!

Last year I bought a new Nikon D90 from Currys. The only manual that came with it was a small getting-started guide. Now I need the proper manual, I find that it's available on the 'net but I can't print it. To get a hard copy I have to send £7.50 to Nikon UK.

£7.50 isn't an issue but it's a nuisance. Ought Nikon to be supplying complex kit such as DSLR cameras without puting a full manual in the box?

It could be a number of things but without further information we cannot help you. Is there a card in the camera? Is the battery ok? Could you take photos ok before? what were you doing when it stopped working ok? What does the display on the LCD say?

Thanks for your comment, Steve. It is sad that you have learned the hard way that plastic lenses are not as good as metal and you must be careful when using them.

I bought a d90 new years eve and have been out photgraphing in the cold and snowy conditions. Done that 3 dys running but suddenly my D90 went dark in the viewfinder. The lens also had a slight wobble. I took the camera back to the car warmed the camera up and tried to get the lens off with difficulty. A little shard of plastic had come off the back end of the lens mounting, this was making poor contact with the inner control devices in the camera linkages to the lens.
Not seen anything like that before particularly with metal lenses so I am much more wary now of plastic lens, but basically my only theory is that a cold camera lens had produced a fragility in the plastic of the plastic lens mounting . I took it back to the camera store and they quibbled but gave me a new lens. Have been out in the snow and cold again so far no problem. But i thought I would raise this as a cautionary note for all and see if anybody else has experienced any problems like this.
